Imagine celebrating your birthday like you’re 10 years old again! Full of joy, excited about the year ahead and doing something you love with the ones who make you smile.

Why do so many of us stop celebrating as the years pass? Birthdays come and go – maybe there’s a dinner involved, a few cards, some well wishes online. We move up one number, and then its business as usual of which it shouldn’t be the case. Birthdays only come around once a year, so as Impax we choose to make it a meaningful time for our precious colleagues by celebrating them on their birthdays.

This September we want to celebrate two of our amazing colleagues; Kennedy and Frankline for turning a year wiser and also to appreciate them for their tireless efforts they have put in over the years in making Impax what it is today. Let me share a snapshot of their bio as we celebrate their D-day! #knowyourcolleague!

Frankline Muteshi aka Frankiez is part of the remarkable team in our Dynamics Department. A very intuitive, detail-oriented, less talk and more action kind of a guy. A guru in implementing, training & supporting Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Systems. He has been working for Impax since 2012.

Frank at Maanzoni Lodge Situated in the Tropical Savannah Grassland, in the heart of Lukenya.

Frankiez hails from Kakamega County, the land of the famous crying stone of Ilesi. The most striking feature is that it resembles a gowned figure, perpetually in tears flowing from ‘head to toe’ — an image spiced-up by myth and folkfore  and the renown Kakamega Forest, the canopy of natural beauty, to the lovers of nature it is a must visit place. Bird watching, hiking and rock climbing can be enjoyed here in the serenity of the forest that time forgot.

Frank is a typical Luhya guy who loves Ugali. I mean for it to be considered a real meal it must be featured somewhere on the menu of the day; breakfast, lunch or dinner or just as a snack that tea goes hand in hand with it. He is also a football fan, Chelsea FC is his team. He also loves Shakespeare poetry. By any chance you want to perfect your athlete skills or in need of a keep fit partner it’s very simple, take him to a snake park, my friend you will not even need to blow the whistle, he will definitely surpass Usain Bolt!

For Frank, family and friends always come first. He prioritizes these two in his time and is well-rounded in many areas. He’s a modern renaissance man. He owes all his achievements in life to God as his provider and also acknowledges his mother’s effort for grooming him to be the man he is today. Happy birthday Frank, we salute you as Impax. Working with you is a great honour and joy!

September baby no 2!  Kennedy Mutinda aka Mutis. A brilliant, jovial, confident guy. By confident I don’t mean him being cocky at all.  He has a good self-image about himself and believes he deserves the best.

Ken is part of the incredible team in our Dynamics Department. He has been working for Impax since November 2013, meaning that we are soon celebrating his 4th work anniversary! I must say that his passion for implementing, training & supporting Retail Management (RMS) Systems is a total plus for Impax! He loves what he does and his all-time role model is Steve Jobs with his famous quote “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”

Ken was born in Matuu, Machakos County, the home to the magnificent Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park, a rugged, hump-backed outcrop of ancient rock jutting high above the Athi plains and hazily visible from Nairobi. Just so you know, Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park is a densely forested mountain known to the  Kikuyu as” the mountain of the buffalo” and to the Maasai as ‘The big mountain”. That aside, he is raised in a family of seven, where he is considered the most cheeky among his siblings. His family has been his pillar and help in his lowest moments, and he cherishes them dearly.

Ken having ‘ who is the Boss now ?’ eye talk..

Mutis is a morning person. The wee hours of dawn is always his time to reflect and get fresh ideas for whatever plans he has for the day. He loves listening to all genres of music but is more inclined to Reggae- Bob Marley & The Wailers. He enjoys watching the 3 idiots, star wars and the pirates of Caribbean and never tires.

He plans to visit Brazil to have a lasting visual image of the breathtaking view of Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio that’s covered with 6 million stone tiles, and whose construction took nine good years! To visit the Iguacu Falls in Foz do Iguacu, the largest waterfalls system in the world, is in his bucket list as well!

Ken with the Meru Team at Nanyuki.

Ken defines his own path. He challenges himself to be a better man, each passing day. Most men are raised to believe they need to fight and conquer, but Ken understands that to overcome one’s own self is better than competing and beating anyone else. Happy birthday to an amazing colleague! We are glad that you’re a part of our team!
